Thanks Susana. The little squares are called baffle blocks. They dissipate the energy of fast flowing water when the river is running high. It helps prevent soil erosion.
Excellent series, as usual, Paul. There's a waterfall up at Kinder Scout which, in winter and when there's a gale blowing appears to be flowing uphill. If you've not seen it, here's a link: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-derbyshire-60246800 If you do visit, becareful as I nearly got very wet the last time I visited - and I was a young and fit bloke at the time...!
Gosh! I think I last walked around there fifty years or so ago with my mum and dad! Thank you for the great memories and great images… – very atmospheric. I hope you had a great time.

I was wondering about that, too!
Beautiful set of images. Lovely textures!
Nice photos! May I ask what those little squares are?
The textures, yes! Great.
Cheers Mark!
Wonderful photography … beautiful field notes!

I have seen it! Bonkers.
Love them. Cannot point a favourite. They are all fantastic. Abstracts are phenomenal.
Love these, the final five abstracts work so well as a set within the series.
